    Subject Matter Expert

    The successful person will become part of a respected and growing technology company with opportunities for progression within the new Air Quality Modelling business and play an active role in helping develop a new and exciting business line whilst working closely with internal partners and stakeholders.

    We are looking for someone who has a solid understanding of the air quality business and who has worked in a variety of roles during their career. The individual will have a solid technical grasp of the air quality modelling process and are now looking to progress into a commercially focused business orientated role. This role will not suit those looking for a technical air quality modelling role or someone looking to lead day to day production teams.

    Key Responsibilities include:

    • Provide both internal and external Air Quality business support for a range of activities for key public and private sector clients;

    • Provide advice to the business and its clients on compliance with environmental regulations and issues related to compliance, strategy and Permitting;

    • Work closely with clients to incorporate air quality modelling capabilities within existing business infrastructure and policy to ensure maximum value is exploited;

    • Support, develop and maintain client relationships and assist in developing new business opportunities as they arise;

    • Work closely with production teams in India and UK production to develop capability;

    • Mentor less experienced members of the team and play an active role in developing the companies air quality capability;

    • Provide project management input to key projects and assist in project coordination activities on an as required basis.

    Job Qualifications


    • A good degree qualification in a relevant environmental/natural science or engineering discipline;

    • Relevant experience in Air Quality modelling work, specifically knowledge of implementing air quality models with delivery to multiple stakeholders. This will include Air Quality Assessments and other substantial development schemes;

    • A track record of successful delivery of air quality projects to key public and private sector clients;

    • Proven ability to work within multidisciplinary technical teams across USA/UK/ME time zones;

    • Proven ability to conduct work within budgetary and time constraints;

    • Ability to develop and follow procedures and method statements produced by both TCarta and client organisations;

    • An excellent understanding of relevant technical guidance including for example but not limited to, the DMRB, LAQM Technical Guidance and relevant documents from the IAQM and EPUK;

    • Proven understanding of Air Quality modelling methodologies and models for example but not limited to ADMS, ADMS-Roads, ADMS Urban, Aermod, AirViro, CALROADS, CMAQ and CALPUFF;

    • Highly proficient in the use of standard office software (Word / Excel / Powerpoint);

    • Able to convey highly technical information to a non-technical audience;

    • Experience in working with academic, non-commercial organisations and working collaborative environment to seek the best outcome for all parties and stakeholders concerned;


    • Detailed understanding of wider infrastructure and technical professional services business;

    • Experience working across multiple business sectors;

    • Ability to interpret environmental regulations and guidance;

    • A track record in successful business development and management of air quality projects;

    • A full, clean UK driving license;

    • Experience working with GIS packages and statistical software in order to best present and visualise air quality model data and deliverables;

    • An understanding of the output from traffic models and methods for manipulation;

    • Willingness to travel overseas for client meetings and to visit other TCarta offices on an as required basis.

    Salary: Competitive and dependent on experience.
