Egypt Air #804 Last Known Location

  • The wreckage of EgyptAir Flight #804 will be found but that doesn’t mean recovery of the black boxes will be easy.

Unlike MH370 that went down in one of the most remote and inaccessible locations in the ocean and has taken 2 years of searching without finding the wreckage, flight #804 went down in a well-mapped and heavily traveled part of the world in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea and it’s last known position is likely very close to the site of the wreckage on the seabed.

Finding the wreckage may be relatively easy but recovery will not be.  The seabed it fairly rugged and the plane likely lies in waters between 2800 – 3000m deep.  The above image shows the flight path and the last know position of the aircraft.  A profile image of the yellow line shows the terrain of this location.
